All Saints Church
The church (architects Paley and Austin) was built in 1870. It was paid for by Thomas Thornton, and is on the site of his grandparents' cottage, next to the Village Green. Burton in Lonsdale parish is in West Yorkshire and Dales diocese. The first Vicar of Burton was the Rev. Frederick Binyon (1866-74), father of the poet Lawrence Binyon (1869-1943), remembered for the lines quoted at Remembrance Day services from his poem 'For the Fallen'. In a recent years the church clock chimes have now been restored and the Church spire. Burton and Thornton's vicar is the Revd Denis Tate. In 2018 All Saints celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The church hosts a popular Stay and Play session for pre-schoolers on Thursday mornings (10am - 12noon) during term time. More information is available from the Groups Facebook page.

Methodist Church
In 1764 John Wesley journeyed through Burton in Lonsdale and described it as 'a quiet, loving society'. At that time the Methodists preached at the old meeting house in Leeming Lane. The current Methodist church was erected on the High Street in 1871 and paid for by private subscription.
